Good viticulture takes time. This masterclass will introduce participants to the inspiring story of a family of winemakers who manage 70 hectares of vineyards located in some of the most suitable terroirs of the Alto Adige region – a place where the Alps meet the sun, creating exceptional conditions for the wines of the Castelfeder winery. Approximately 70% of the vineyards are planted with white varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon Blanc, and Gewürztraminer. The remaining 30% are red varieties such as Lagrein, Merlot, and Cabernet, with a clear focus on Pinot Noir.

Through a selection of Castelfeder’s authentic wines, participants will explore the region’s diverse terroirs, microclimates, and unique characteristics. They will have the opportunity to see how altitude, exposure, and soils shape the style and character of the wines. The focus will be both on local varieties and international classics such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, interpreted through the unique identity of Alto Adige.

Here are the wines that will be tasted during the masterclass:
Spumante intanto 2020
Pinot Grigio 15 2025
Chardonnay Riserva Burgum Novum 2022
Gewürztraminer Vom Lehm 2024
Pinot Nero Buchholz 2023
Pinot Nero Glen 2023
Pinot Nero Mazon 2023
Lagrein Riserva Burgum Novum 2022

25 April (Saturday), from 3:30 PM to 4:45 PM

The masterclass will be conducted in English without translation.

NOTE! The master class ticket does NOT provide access to the exhibition! To participate in any of the master classes, you must have an entrance ticket to Discover.Vino on the same day!

Ines Giovanet represents the third generation of the family winery Castelfeder, located in the southern part of Alto Adige. Founded in 1969 by Ines’s grandfather, Alfons Giovanet, the winery is today managed by Ines and her brother Ivan. Ines is responsible for sales and marketing, while he is the enologist and production manager.

Despite contemporary challenges – climate change, dynamic markets, and new trends in the wine industry – the family successfully combines tradition with modernity, guided by careful selection of the most suitable vineyards and a precise choice of grape varieties that best express the character of the terroir.
